Dinner at Gus's BBQ, Plus Their New Party Trailer (South Pasadena, CA)

Gus's BBQ is a beloved spot for South Pasadena locals, who keep the restaurant packed every night. When you go, be sure to get the Cast Iron Cornbread ($6.95), made with Sweet Pennsylvanian corn and served with Jalapeno jelly (and make sure to try the jalapeno jelly!)

NachosA good appetizer to share for a big party is the Pulled Pork Nachos ($10.95): homemade tortilla chips topped with pulled pork, four cheese sauce, bbq baked beans, smoked mozzarella, jack cheese, tomato, red onion, guacamole, and a bbq drizzle. Talk about loaded nachos!

Mint julep
There's a bourbon-focused cocktail menu here with items like Blood Orange Manhattan and Mint Julep. The Mint Julep is served in a proper julep cup with crushed ice. They also have a dozen beers on tap with seasonal selections and some good local selections.

Baby back ribs
The BBQ plates are of course, the most popular. I tried the Memphis Style Baby Back Ribs (half rack $19.95), served with choice of two sides. I picked braised southern greens and creamed corn, which were both good. More surprisingly, though, I really liked the Southern Fried Chicken ($15.95): half boneless chicken with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, braised southern greens, apple cider gravy
Fried chicken
Juicy chicken with a well spiced, crispy skin! Next time I'll order this one!

Gus's BBQ has always had catering, but recently they outfitted a new trailer just for private parties. Instead of getting trays of ribs delivered, why not have them prepped fresh in front of your house?
Oh. Did I mention there's a flat screen TV on the curbside of the trailer? And a kegerator? They've really thought of everything for that Super Bowl BBQ party.
You can check their site for the different catering options and minimums.

We LOOOOVE Gus's too; we discovered it about a year ago, even though we live only 10 min away. The fried chicken is perfection, as is the flattened BBQ chicken. Brunch on weekends is so good too- the biscuits and gravy are my favorite. I try to curb it by ordering just a side of one biscuit w/ gravy and one egg on top. It's the perfect small but decadent brunch.

Another thing I love is the staff. Gus's is such a well-oiled machine, and the manager is always helpful, his staff always kind, efficient and knowledgeable. Really love this place.

Thank you for sharing. Have you ever tried bbq delivery in Chicago, IL? They can bring you a taste of BBQ all year round. They have a great selection of grilled deliciousness available.
