Brunch at Myers and Chang (Boston, MA)

Myers + Chang is one of the most popular restaurants in Boston, with Joanne Chang's Asian-inspired small plates. I finally made it there for brunch with a group of friends. Since there was a vegetarian mong us, we ordered the Wok-roasted wild mushroom omelet ($7)

Myers and Chang
This was a great breakfast dish, so savory and satisfying.

We also got two different dumplings: Mama Chang's Pork and Chive ($6) and edamame wasabi ($6)

Surprisingly, I actually liked the vegetarian edamame gyozas better. The pork dumplings were good but the edamame wasabi is more special and unique. Just like the mushroom omelet earlier, I enjoyed the vegetarian dishes here quite a bit.
Fried Egg Banh Mi with soy glazed bacon ($8)
Myers and Chang
A good sandwich, although messy to eat. The thick bacon was quite good. Since I'm used to $3 banh mi in LA, $8 seems a little high, although in the end our overall bill was reasonable.

Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice) with pork, shrimp, pineapple, farm egg ($8)
Myers and Chang

First of all, this was a nice bowl of fried rice - but pineapple fried rice isn't really Indonesian, IMHO. Well, since there's no Indonesian restaurant that I can find in Boston, I have to enjoy what I can get.

Braised pork belly bao ($5)
Myers and Chang
I kept hearing about this bun, but I can't say it's the best bao I've ever had. There are plenty of pork belly bao around these days, and this doesn't particularly stand out.

On the other hand, we enjoyed the Hakka Eggplant ($7)

The interior at Myers and Chang is casual and fun, a nice place for a day out with friends.

Overall, Myers + Chang was pretty good. Even though I initially thought the individual dish prices were a tad high (for Asian food), since our table split everything, the total bill actually came out to be very reasonable.
