The Beautiful Revamp of Esterel at Sofitel LA
Esterel Restaurant inside the Sofitel hotel in Beverly Hills just had a major renovation, and its patio dining area is worth a second look. From this gorgeous bar with the romantic lights and vines in the background ...
The inside dining room also feels more casual and open than the previous setup.
The menu is relatively small and simple, but the food is done very well here. We got the Lamb Meatballs ($13) served atop couscous.
Followed by Pan-seared scallops ($17) which were fresh and cooked just right. I love the texture of seared scallops when they're done well.
For the entree, I got the Grilled Maine lobster, asparagus, Brentwood corn, sun-dried tomato, pomme puree ($36)
This is a great, light, summer dish especially with the corn and the thinly shaved asparagus.
Want something heartier? They have a Grass-fed Filet Mignon (7 oz), summer vegetable succotash, Anson Mills grits ($48)
Cocktails here tend on the sweeter side, but if you don't mind that, then they'e pretty good. I tried the Coup de Soleil (El Jimador Blanco tequila, carrot, pineapple, grapefruit, habanero) and Zephir (El Silencio Espadin mezcal, mango, pink peppercorn)
Dessert was a panna cotta made with Caramelia.
There's a back patio area called The Aviary, which is available for private parties.
With the new revamp, Esterel is poised to be a romantic date spots for Angelenos on the Westside, with a gorgeous patio. The entree prices are high, typical of hotel restaurants in Beverly Hills, but the food is solid.
