Inn At Richmond and Equestrian Center: A Place of Celebration
I've visited The Berkshires in the fall, but I finally made my first foray out here in the winter time. The Berkshires is quiet in the winter, but that also makes for a relazing, tranquil getaway. I love this winter sunset view.
My room was a charming suite in the main building. The second room has a pull-out sofa bed.
The inn has multiple rooms and suites, and even private cottages complete with a kitchen that are perfect for families.
Of course, a proper inn should have a great library and seating area.
I have to say, Inn at Richmond is my kind of inn ... Why? Liqueurs and sherry are available for the guests to enjoy anytime in the library. The innkeeper, Johnny, keeps it well stocked! He leaves bowls of candies and other goodies throughout the inn, as well.
Our favorite room was the Garden Terrace with plenty of sunlight and a view of the surrounding property. PS. There's also a fridge on the side, stocked with wine. This place keeps you well lubricated.
With 27 acres in the property, Inn at Richmond holds many outdoor weddings in the summer. There's a barn that they might use for cocktail hours or after parties.
After our little tour, I can see how this place makes for a great destination wedding. There are plenty of space for a gathering, and the inn allows you to bring any caterer you want. The guests will stay in the same general area but most will maintain privacy in the separate cottages.
Since Johnny prepares everything, he told us not to expect fancy baked goods for breakfast, but he promised us a hearty breakfast! That, he did deliver. We had a big platter of eggs and sausages and waffles.
Local organic maple syrup.
There's also some yogurt, cereal, and granola for those that prefer a lighter breakfast. I had both ...
This 27-acre property also serves as an equestrian center where you can board your horses here full time. Since these horses don't belong to the inn, regular guests cannot go for a ride, but if you own a horse then you can bring your horse here for your own getaway. Otherwise, if you're a horse lover you can still walk around and get a close up view of the beautiful horses.
The equestrian center definitely has all the facilities to ride and train the horses. They even have a multi-room suite that overlooks the facilities (I was told it's quite popular for brides-to-be and her bridesmaids to get ready before the weddings)
In New England, there are plenty of inns and bed and breakfasts set in historic mansions and homes. It's really the innkeeper who set the tone and character to these places. Johnny who runs the inn is very friendly and loves to talk and gives you tips on what to do or where to go in the area. Sure, he doesn't bake muffins, but he adds a special touch to the inn, from the wines and goodies he left around the inn to keep guests happy to the way he and his crew takes care of the horses.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary stay at this Select Registry property in exchange for a review.
