The Brook Kitchen and Tap Brings Good Food and Beers to Holbrook, MA

When I got invited to try out the new The Brook Kitchen and Tap in Boston's South Shore (Holbrook, MA), I have to say I wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't explored the South Shore much, but I was pleasantly surprised when I got there! The Brook Kitchen and Tap offers some great food at a value and a nice craft beer list to boot.

Among the things to get here are the Mango Habanero dry wings - they have a number of wet and dry sauces/rubs for the wings, but these were the ones the chef recommended for us.

We were pretty obsessed with these wings. The mango habanero rub was superb! It packed some heat, and the sweetness and tartness added a really nice layer of flavors. We would definitely return for these!

In general the food at The Brook was not only good, but a great value as well given the price and the large portions. Take, for example, this appetizer of Crispy brussel sprouts with sriracha ranch ($8)

Not only were the they crispy and delicious, this is perhaps the largest portion I've seen for $8!

I tried one of their most popular entrees: Steak tips (a full pound of house-marinated steak tips, $16)

I'd forgotten how much I like steak tips until the ones here. The steak tips was done perfectly and was very tender! Again, it's a great value given the quality of the food and the fact that you get a whole pound of the steak!
The marinade is on the sweet side, which I personally really liked, but my friend preferred the Short ribs braised in Chianti, with caramelized onions, roasted garlic ($16)

Both of them were served with mashed potatoes and broccoli (in case a pound of meat wasn't enough. We need our veggies, after all).

For dessert: apple crisp

They have a good selection of craft beers on tap, from local beers and beyond. They've also done a number of tap takeovers with breweries like Revival Brewing and they also have live music every now and then.

I don't know how late the South Shore night life goes, but The Brook is open until 1 am every day. Whether you're coming with friends or just relaxing at the bar with a glass of beer and some steak tips, consider The Brook next time you're looking for a spot in the South Shore. P.S. They recently also opened a location in Maynard.

Oh, and the good thing about eating in this area? Plenty of free parking!
