Unfortunately it was too cold that night to sit out on the actual veranda, so we sat inside. The dining area inside is pretty small and flanks the lobby walkway.
We started with the cheese and charcuterie board ($29) that's great for sharing.

Crispy Chicken Sandwich (buttermilk marinated Mary's chicken, aged cheddar, cabbage slaw, cilantro-ranch, house pickles, red onion, beefsteak tomatoes, potato bun - $14).

We were pretty impressed with the chicken sandwich and it may be one of the best things on the menu, especially for the lower $14 price tag. I'm usually wary about ordering dishes with white meat chicken but this fried chicken wasn't dry and the batter was nice and crispy. I enjoyed the cilantro ranch dressing as well.
Roasted Scottish salmon with seasonal vegetables ($29)

A classic dish of roasted salmon with vegetables. The salmon was nicely prepared and the portion was pretty generous.
We finished with a rich bread pudding

The Veranda's menu of Californian and Mediterranean-influenced dishes offers something for everyone, from healthier dishes to fried chicken sandwiches. That makes this a good spot for a dinner with a view of the ocean and Santa Monica Pier - especially with that free parking!
