When you eat out as much as I do, and eat as much unhealthy stuff as I do, a dinner filled with salads and healthy options is a welcomed change. A couple weeks ago that change came in the form of a blogger dinner at Freshii in Back Bay.
We tasted samples of quite a few things during dinner including the popular Metaboost Salad (field greens, spinach, kale, mangos, carrots, edamame, almonds, goat cheese, balsamic vinaigrette)
Mediterranean Salad (half quinoa, half field greens, red onions, kalamata olives, feta cheese, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, almonds, red pepper sauce)
Freshii also lets you build-your-own salads and bowls, but if you have a hard time choosing, you can try one of their signature bowls like the Buddha's Satay bowl (rice noodles, crispy wontons, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, green onions, peanut sauce)
Freshii also has "burritos" but don't be expecting the traditional burrito of meat, salsa, beans, and rice - unless you order the Tex Mex burrito, which is exactly that minus the meat. For example, the Baja burrito is filled with quinoa, avocado, red onions, cilantro, green onions, cabbage, salsa, pico de gallo. Pictured below is the mini burritos that they made for parties.
For the winter months, Freshii is also serving some vegan chili - because sometimes it's just too cold for a salad and you need something warm and hearty.
Just because we're eating "healthy" doesn't mean we can't indulge ... in some frozen yogurt. I can tell you that the frozen yogurt is low fat or whatnot, but I don't really care about that - what I care about is how rich and deliciously decadent the chocolate frozen yogurt was!
It's a nice way to add personality to franchises like these!
