Meats and Mixology at Boston Magazine's The Cue, Back on August 15, 2017

Summer is a time for bbq and day drinking. It's also the season for food festivals in Boston, including Boston Magazine's annual food festivals. In August, the two-night affair The Cue and Battle of the Burger is returning to the Cruiseport.

Last year, I was invited to attend - since I was flying out for a friend's wedding, I only managed to check out The Cue right before heading to the airport!

The Cue
Pecan smoked baby back ribs from Coppersmith

The Cue is a celebration of BBQ and mixology - what a great pair, right?
The Cue
There are meats and ribs galore - prepare your heart and stretchy pants before you come here! Guests get to vote for the best bbq and the best cocktail, no naturally you have to be fair and taste everything, right?

Last year's participating restaurants include Andy Husbands' The Smoke Shop BBQ
The Cue

... Tiffani Faison's Sweet Cheeks Q
The Cue
Sweet Cheeks Q served up heritage breed "pork belly 3 ways" on top of their famous biscuit.
The Cue
Firefly's BBQ in Marlborought was one of my favorites last year. They had a Dixie Kissed St. Louis ribs with sweet potato pecan pudding and cucumber salad.
The Cue
An unusual take on the ribs was this country fried lamb ribs with smoked lamb fat ranch from Chef Brian Reyelt (Franklin Cafe).
The Cue
In between bites of ribs, I tasted cocktails from some of Boston's bars (you know, so I can vote properly for the best cocktail). The cocktail portion was sponsored by Mount Gay rum.
The Cue
Trade poured a cocktail made with Mount Gay black barrel rum, hibiscus liqueur, pineapple, Angostura bitters, hibiscus flower, vanilla bean, and lavender.
The Cue
Jared Sadoian from The Hawthorne made one of my favorite cocktails at the event, with Mount Gay Black Barrel rum, watermelon-mint shrub, lemon, Clement creole shrub, vanilla syrup, and Angostura orange bitters.

It's not all meat at The Cue. Neptune Oyster was there shucking fresh oysters, while ACE Boulangerie gave out mini baguettes. There was coffee and ice cream for dessert. There is certainly no shortage of food and drinks at this event.
The Cue
The VIP ticket holders get a nice seating area overlooking the water at the Cruiseport.

The Cue will take place on August 15, 2017 while Battle of the Burger will be on August 16. Tickets to The Cue are $75 GA/ $110 VIP and can be purchased here.
