Milk and Eggs, a New Kind of Grocery Delivery Service

These days, it's hard to find time to go grocery shopping. Thankfully, there are a few grocery delivery services out there. I recently got to test out Milk and Eggs, a service where you can order farm fresh food online and they'll be delivered to the LA and OC area. What's different about Milk and Eggs is that they get their food from the farms, butchers, bakers - basically the foodmakers directly instead of sending someone to buy your food from other grocery stores.

They're delivered in these reusable bags (which they'll pick up on your next order). If you want to save money, they also have curated farm sampler bags.

They also minimize the plastic bags used.

What I also like about Milk and Eggs is their "meal kits" section. Milk and Eggs has worked with some cooking bloggers who developed recipes. You can order each "meal kit" and they list the recipes online. Mind you, this isn't an individually portioned meal kit like Blue Apron. When you buy a meal kit that uses a couple of eggs, for example, they'll send you a dozen.

For someone like me who doesn't cook much and have a hard time looking up recipes, this is a nice feature! Some of their recipes are simple (like the linguine picture above) or a little more involved.
I also tried the below udon with pork and mushrooms:

I also like that Milk and Eggs offers baked goods from local bakeries like Bread Lounge. I ordered some pastries that were on sale (the Secret Squirrel cold brew coffee below did not come from M&E, but they do offer cold brew):

Milk and Eggs offers fresh pasta, frozen dumplings, fresh produce, and high quality meat and seafood. For the most part, the prices are on par with regular grocery stores - their organic produce can even be cheaper than organic at other stores. I would say while you can find cheaper versions of the same kind of product, for the same high quality, Milk and Eggs might be cheaper than regular grocery stores. Plus, they have a lot of sales and promotions you can take advantage of and they delivery for free for orders over $35!
