VERTS, a New Fast Casual Mediterranean Grill Opens in Downtown Boston

VERTS started in Austin, Texas about five years ago. In that short period of time, this chain of healthy, fast casual Mediterranean grill has grown to 35 locations around Texas and it has now made its way to Boston as its first non-Texas location.
I recently attended the opening party of the Boston location, in the Financial District, to check out the food that makes this chain so fast-growing.
VERTS is a build-your-own concept, and you can choose between rice bowl, quinoa bowl, pita wrap, or salad.

There's falafel for the protein option, so it's vegetarian friendly, but my personal favorite is the chicken. Yes, I was surprised myself, but the chicken here was so good! I loved both the spices and the texture of the chicken - it was like a chicken gyro.
Get it with the spicy red pepper sauce. This sauce is made with walnut and roasted red pepper so it has a nice nutty flavor.
After choosing a protein, go down the line and point to the vegetables you want to add to your bowl, and you also get to choose up to 3 different sauces. The food is pretty affordable, as they cost $7.95-$8.45, depending on the protein you choose.

There are seasonal creations that you can choose instead of building your own bowl. I tried a taste of the braised pork with brussel sprouts. It was served with an eggplant dip, and the combination was quite good.
Some non-alcoholic cucumber drinks to refresh out palates.

VERTS is currently open in Boston's Financial District with other locations in the works. I thought the food here was quite good and affordable. I look forward to getting some quick meals here with the chicken and red pepper sauce!
