There's another place that I wish was there when I was a Bruin: TLT Food. The food options in Westwood Village just keep getting better these days!
TLT Food is started by the guy behind The Lime Truck (hence TLT) that started in Orange County and won season 2 of The Great Food Truck Race! It is a great fast casual option, with beer and wine and free wi-fi. There are sandwiches, sliders, tacos, and fries with an Asian influence.
I had to get Blue Crab Grilled Cheese (can't say no to crab): Grilled Sourdough, Blue Crab, Cheese Blend, Scallions ($9)
Taco prices vary depending on the protein (or potato) you get, from short rib to ahi tuna. I tried the Pork Belly Adobo Taco: Braised Pork Belly, Tomatillo Salsa, Sriracha, Cilantro ($4)
They have six rotating beer taps, 2 keg wines, and plenty of wine and beers by the bottle. They have a nice selection of craft beers! I can't think of any other place in Westwood Village that have a good selection of craft beers on tap. Not that I hang out in Westwood Village much anymore, but certainly can't think of any from when I was a Bruin.
I didn't want to drink too much so I asked for a taster size of Saison de Lente.
(If you don't want alcohol, they do have fresh fruit limeade with rotating flavors)
There's a board with a couple of daily specials. For that night I tried the Tangerine Pork Sliders ($8): 12-hour pulled pork, tangerine aioli, arugula, red onion, tomato
I recommend the patty in the Squealer Sliders (hand ground bacon and beef patty, cheese blend, tomato, onion, aioli, arugula - also $8 for 3 sliders).
TLT Food is definitely a fun place for students, with reasonably priced, flavorful food and great beers. Did I mention they have free wi-fi? Also, they're open until midnight on Thursdays-Saturdays!
