Event Recap: Taste of the Fenway 2016
Most people, even those not from Boston, would know the name Fenway, but how many really know the Fenway neighbhorhood beyond the baseball stadium? Fenway is actually home to many wonderful restaurants and bars, from the casual to the high end. Recently, the Fenway Community Development Corporation held Taste of the Fenway to showcase the diverse food options the neighborhood has to offer. Here are some of my favorite bites from Taste of the Fenway:
Tuna poke from Hojoko, the fun and hopping izakaya inside The Verb Hotel.
Top Chef alum Tiffani Faison actually has two restaurants in Fenway, and she brought both to the festival. I love when the chef is personally on hand to cook at these festivals, it shows their dedication!
She did a Singaporean Street Noodle to showcase her Southeast Asian spot, Tiger Mama.
Her other restaurant is Boston's BBQ favorite, Sweet Cheeks Q. Mmm ... brisket.
They did a brisket mini slider using a mini version of their famous biscuit!
I tried some interesting Persian dishes from Fiouna's, like a pomegranate stew.
Oysters from Citizen Public House:
Basho was grilling teriyaki chicken on the spot, which was wrapped in lettuce.
Target was also there, since the festival took place right outside of the store. They were pouring their specially labeled Red Sox and Bruins wines.
Taste of the Fenway was a great showcase and managed to bring a diverse group of the neighborhood's restaurants to the festival. We also tried some cider from Lookout Farm, and Craft Beer Cellars brought some Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. There was coffee from Pavement Coffeehouse which kept us warm, and desserts from Neighborhood Coffee & Crepes! The festival is on a smaller scale, since it's a neighborhood showcase, but they also limit the attendance so there were plenty for everyone to eat and we didn't have to wait in long lines like during other festivals.
