Where to Drink Cocktails in Boston: Back Bay

Back Bay is a bit of a touristy area of Boston with Prudential Center, Copley Square, and more, but that doesn't mean there aren't bars worthy of your visit. Here are some of my favorite places to grab a cocktail in Back Bay.

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen

Oak Long Bar is the bar at the Fairmont Copley Square. Since it's a swanky hotel, so is the bar. The drink prices reflect that as well, but it's home to one of my favorite drinks in Boston: the Smoked Chai Manhattan. You can read more about the bar here.

Nahita
Nahita drinks
Nahita is worth a visit for the gorgeous interior alone, but fortunately the cocktails match the interior. The cocktail menu changes seasonally and there's usually a clarified milk punch on the menu (which is one of my favorite things!)

Cocktail Lab at Earls
Earls Prudential
Earls is a chain restaurant from Canada, but the Prudential Center has a special feature: the Cocktail Lab downstairs. Their regular cocktail menu is solid and they also rotate guest bartenders from all around the city. Plus, in the land of no-happy-hour that is Boston, it's great that Earls offers a $5 drink - a different one each month!

Uni

Uni's chef Tony Messina just won a James Beard award so it might be a little bit harder for you to get in there, but you can always try to grab a seat at bar. Uni's cocktail menu is smaller than when it was Clio, but they're all solid options and they have one for each palate from highballs to tiki drinks to an Old Fashioned.

Map Room at Boston Public Library
Map Room
The newest bar in Back Bay is at an unexpected place: inside the Boston Public Library. The library recently converted their cafe into a tea and cocktail lounge called Map Room. They do afternoon tea service as well as tea-infused cocktails and snacks. Enjoy drinks like The Green Light with tequila, lime, matcha and agave or the Tequila Mockingbird with prosecco, blood orange hibiscus infused tequila, lime and strawberry.

Citrus and Salt
Citrus and Salt
Citrus and Salt is a good go-to for easy-drinking margaritas and boozy Dole Whips (and soft serve mimosas at brunch). Let's be honest, who doesn't like dole whips? The interior recalls the aesthetics of coastal Mexico which makes the bar great for getting together with friends - although it does get crowded.
