Fresh & Cheap Seafood on the Pier
Walking through the Redondo Beach Boardwalk, every whiff of air you take smells of the ocean. Yes, I meant "fishy" but I thought this might be a place of euphemism. You're right by the ocean surrounded by seafood restaurants, so it's no wonder it smells fishy. But ... you smell more ... could it be ...? Yep, there they are! Live tanks of fish and shellfish at Quality Seafood.
Quality is the place for cheap fresh fishy treats.
They have fish, crabs, etc, but we went straight to this tank here:
Live uni. They opened it up and the spikes were still wriggling as the guy put the uni on the plate. One live uni served on a styrofoam plate, $5.60. Oh yeah.

Recently read about this place. The food looks great! Those oysters look really, really fresh compared to other seafood restaurants that are right near the water.
Uni looks great too :). At our supermarket their spikes are trimmed, or they don't move, or the meat is already moved out.
should really do the uni thing next time. fiance loves it so...
That is so cheap for fresh uni! I am also gaga about oysters, so I really don't have any excuses about not making a beeline there!

Great find! Those prices are unbeatably good! Not sure if and when I'll ever be in Redondo, but I'll keep it in mind.
Had Uni the other day at my local sushi joint,, didn't come out alive but... It sure tasted... interesting...

We have never been there. But their food keeps me pushing into their dining. Planning to go in the next weekend.
